Favre Throws Well In Friday Practice
Larry McCarren
Reporting
(AP) GREEN BAY Brett Favre fired tight spirals in practice Friday, giving signs that he's improving from the elbow injury that knocked him out of last week's loss to New England.
The encouraging development comes even though the 37-year old admitted he's struggling with feeling his grip on the ball. He says two fingers were stuck shut after the injury on Sunday.
Favre gets an extra day to recover from the injury because the Packers don't play until Monday night at Seattle. He has started an NFL quarterback record 251 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Ahman Green played a variety of roles with the Seattle Seahawks in 1998 and 1999. Now he's returning to play in Seattle for the first time since he was traded to the Green Bay Packers in 2000.
He says he hasn't forgotten the place where he first got the chance to show his versatility as a runner.
In Green Bay he went on to post five consecutive one-thousand-yard seasons from 2000 through 2004 and made four consecutive Pro Bowls.
Seattle is still coached by Mike Holmgren, but the only players left from when Green played for the Seahawks are tackle Walter Jones, fullback Mack Strong, tight end Itula Mili and guard Chris Gray.
An injury limited Green to just five games last season and 255 yards rushing, but he's had a resurgence so far this year after signing a one-year deal in the offseason.
Green has had four 100-yard games but missed two others with hamstring injuries. Still, he's managed to run for 644 yards and three touchdowns and is on pace for another thousand-yard season if he averages 60 yards a game for the final six games.
